2011 Summer LAN Party

Yeah, it's been way too long! I've been rather busy this summer.

It's time for a good old-fashion LAN party!

We'll be kicking it with classics like Halo, and Call of Duty, and for the more musically-inclined, Rock Band 3 will be set up with more than 400 songs to choose from!

Of course, I don't have everything here and available at my house so, as always, we need YOU to help us out if you have an xbox yourself!

Among things that we need are, Xbox 360 consoles, controllers, small TVs, *LAN CABLES*, and copies of Halo: Reach or Call of Duty: Black Ops. If you do have access to such equipment, you are strongly encouraged to bring it along. Of course, if you do not have access to any of these things, then just come as you are! It's not a party without the players!

[NOTE: TVs are not so much a priority as I have about 4 or 5 TVs here we can use. Although the ones I have here are pretty basic so if you have a great little HD TV that's easily portable, bring it along! But if you're pondering whether or not to pull out that 60-inch plasma TV from your living room... DON'T!]

Also, Lunch will be provided, but if you happen to have any sort of gamer grub lying around the house (e.g. chips, pretzels, soda, etc.) it's always appreciated (but certainly not required) to share with your fellow gamers!

Now I can't guarantee anything yet, but let me know if you'll be needing a carpool to our humble adobe out here in Somerset from the usual meeting place at the Panda Express side of the Wal Mart parking lot.

If nothing else, come with a good attitude, lets Keep it Clean, and have some fun! :)

Halo Reach Release LAN Party

For the release of Halo Reach, we'll be throwing together a big mess of multiplayer, campaign, and firefight! Come join us and bring a copy if you can! We'll be trying to formulate a carpool for those in the Placerville area. Lunch is provided. If you wish to bring a snack to share you are more than welcome to. Same as usual, if you have a system/copy of the game please bring it! If not come anyway! The party is nothing without the guests!

With STAR testing in play right now, and SATs around the corner, I haven't had time to properly maintain this site. You've probably noticed that we hav'nt had a weekly update in a while... I'll be on Facebook is you want up to-date information on what's going on around here. But don't expect another post on this site until it's reincarnation this summer. Nuthin' much this week. Some big announcements on the "Arena" in Reach by the Bungie folks, but besides the LAN party today, (which was much smaller than anticipated) this week was rather mellow on the Packnight side. Tune in next week for more exciting stuff.. hopefully.

Future of Packnight's Official Website

With the increase of various tools and software available, Packnight Productions is looking to the future with a mindset of "change" we have the equipment to set up our own podcast, if we had a more news-savvy board. We have all the tools to make a machinima, action-figure style, Halo style, or any other PC/Xbox game. But not the time or staff to pull through. This is the reasoning behind the delay of Pwned by History.
Another reason we're looking into broadening our horizons is identity security. In the rare event that we do become a semi-popular community site, broadcasting personal information on our home page wouldn't be the smartest move. Instead, we're looking into moving in the direction of "halo.bungie.org and/or sarcasticgamer.com" It looks as though Packnight Productions might be closing down for a while, and Packnight501's Official Website might be getting a new name and makeover.
What we want from you, the community, to do for us now, is to think of some name suggestions or ideas for the site. We're looking for something broader than a Halo-focused title, something that rolls off the tongue. And things that you would want in a website, like a forum? or a music player? Weekly Update - 03/13/10

Somehow missed the update this week... must be because the email reminders aren't working right. Well, I got my account back, but can't re-acquaint it with my hotmail account due to age limits? Like that was an issue before?

I got my new camera this week. Fancy little doohickey, picture quality ain't great though. Wish I had the time to use it.

Borrowed Mass Effect from a friend, it's pretty sweet, like most games recommended to me. Also bought Castle Crashers. Mindless fun for 4!

The "big" LAN party is this weekend. I quote-ify "big" because I'm not entirely sure exactly how many are really going to show up. I've still got 7 TVs waiting to be used.

I was also brainstorming ideas for the future of this website, with the tools at my disposal there is a good amount of progress to be made, if only I had the time.

Weekly Update - 03/06/10

This was the week that I was so rudely hacked by some dude who thought he could charge $120 to my account and get away with it. All the technical stuff being worked out by Microsoft, but the account is locked down and no more damage can be done. I've doubled the security on all my other accounts, changing passwords, adding security questions, etc.
Since all this happened I've been playing all-offline stuff that I hadn't tried before, like the Castle Crashers demo.. it is ADDICTING! I'm buying the full game first thing when I get my account back!
The Halo Reach Multiplayer Trailer blew my freaking mind last Wednesday! I've watched it 40-times over frame by frame digesting every flavor of the new footage. Can't wait for the Beta... only 58 days away..

I've got an Airsoft War and a LAN Party lined up for the next 2 weekends, so the rest of this month is going to be busy. Stay Tuned. (the over-used end line)

Never thought it could happen to you eh? Well guess what! It happened! Right here! To Packnight501's Xbox LIVE account! Here's how it went down; I was checking my email, like I regularly do in the evening, when I noticed a 5000 Microsoft Point purchase confirmation from within two hours of me finding out about it. I tried logging into xbox.com to confirm these claims... I can't log in.. my password is rejected. I rush to my console and attempt to log into Xbox LIVE... "Your Xbox LIVE membership information isn't valid." =0
Luckily the Xbox LIVE support people were kind and to the point (if a little slow) and my account was put on lockdown while they resolve the issue. I was assured that everything would be back to normal within 14 days. Two weeks... a while, but I'll manage. The scumbag who tried to jump me managed two $62 transactions before he was cut off from my debit card information. I had the Bank recycle that account and send me a brand new card, and I ran a massive sweep of all of my online profiles with a similar password and jumbled them all up, so that I will be safe from future attempts at my virtual life.
The only lead I have on the villainous codebreaker is the gamertag he replaced my beloved "Packnight501" with: IMAJIKz. I applaud the man's handiwork but I am disappointed at whoever made this foul attempt at my name... bad form, man, bad form...

Weekly Update - 02/27/10

This week consisted mostly of Student Council organizationalness, photoshop, and Assassin's Creed. I am also now borrowing Mass Effect from a friend of mine, and I sold a few junk movies/games (except for Assassin's Creed) on Goozex. Microsoft is sending me a free copy of the latest backwards comparability disk (usually around $5) because they couldn't fix my Original-Xbox-game-playing-error over the phone. They seem pretty confident it will fix the problem, but I still have my doubts... My parents bought a new HD TV to replace the old one previously located in the new one's current spot, so, after handing the old one off to me, I now have a grand total of 7 working TVs (including the laptop rig I can set up) for the next LAN party!

One of the many things on my to-do list; gain access to a copy of Photoshop for website purposes. Thanks to a friend of mine, I was able to nab a sweet deal for a copy of the CS3 version of the $200+ photo editing program! You can now expect more advanced work from Packnight Productions in the area of photography! Next on the list; video!

Which means we'll be teaming up in groups of 4 surviving endless waves of Covenant, Locust, and Undead Nazis! As of now, they've set up a project page with trailers, renders, concept art, screenshots, music, and even gunshot sounds all from the Alpha build of the game. Data transfer cable don't work right, and the DC-USB converter is busted... thats what you get for $2 on ebay... HOWEVER I was able to move my data over the hard way via. hours of re-downloading stuff. So th new 60GB hard drive is a go! Only problem is the Original Xbox titles don't work for some reason.. I'll look into that. Rest of the week was consumed by schoolwork.

Winter Break is coming to an end for Smith Flat folks :( so we're planning a small LAN party before we return to our aching school schedules! This Saturday, January 9th. It will be at the Magnificent [classified]'s Estate. Early Update this week; my most sincere apologies for the complete lack of updates the past month and a half, I have no excuse. Halo Reach's first look was released December 12th, more on that soon. Internet downgrade to limitless Dial-Up. We've got a great new video camera on it's way, but due to under-stock it will not arrive for another week or two. We now have Gears of War 2, The Orange Box, and Fallout 3 under our belt for machinimatic purposes and otherwise... and production of this year's Holiday video is scheduled to release sometime BEFORE 2010! (unlike last year's) And, oh yeah, Merry Christmas! =)

Well... now that issues with internet problems are all in the past, THIS week, I really did make some progress. As you might have noticed, I now own GTAIV, Fable 2, Bioshock, Mirror's Edge, and Star Wars: KotOR. This is all thanks to a little site called Goozex, which I gladly took in return for my sister's Tinkerbell videos and Disney's Home on the Range! (No joke) Halo: Waypoint is out now, although it technically counts as a game, there is really nothing to do but watch Halo: Legends and compare your score with your friends..
Anyways, if you've been reading you're Packnight Productions news feed, (Which, I might add, has been barren for the past month) then you might have noticed an equipment stock update recently which mentions the fact that I will soon acquire means of which to shoot some sweet machinima in the future!.... IF I ever manage to scrape up some time... XP

The LAN Party was fun, less of a turn-out than expected. Oh, did I mention? ODST IS OUT!!!! YAYZ!!!!1 The game is amazing! The Achievements look easily achievable compared to Halo 3's. I'm so close to Recon I can practically taste it! I'm talking about Vidmasters of coarse... anyways, the weather is cooling down, it feels alot moar like fall. :) Hopefully school half-time (Winter break) will hurry up the calendar and give us much-needed time to work on PBH. Well my new airsoft gun has something' wrong with it, so I'm sending it back for a replacement. I've gotta lota' homework to do tonight. Packnight Productions/ODST News Overload!

In the past five hours there has been an explosion of activity around the site as well as Bungie.net. In fact, this whole month has seen it's fair share of activity!

One change to this site you may have noticed, is the "Follow Us" tab in the sidebar replacing the "Profiles" tab. Rest assured though, Those contacts/profiles are still available to click on under the "more..." link. Packnight Productions' site got a similar overhaul. Both Packnight's Official Website and Packnight Productions have a Facebook link now! Expect to see links to future posts there if you are a facebooker. Even the Official Blogger got a small upgrade to it's search tab.
On the Bungie side of life, Bungie.net got it's own face lift, although on a much MUCH grander scale! It's all prepped for ODST with point and game records galore! The whole site looks fresh now as well! And if you didn't catch their release of some samples of the ODST soundtrack (I swear, I've been listening nonstop for two days now) you can get a hold of them here. You can also catch just about every official released video relating to ODST at their project page except for the hilarious Groovin' Sgt. Johnson commercial which I conveniently placed on the facebook LAN party event page. Which if you STILL haven't heard yet, the ODST Release LAN Party will be hald on the.... oh just click the link and read!

Fall Countdowns Update

Not too long ago I added a stack of countdown timers for games to be released this fall on Packnight501's Official Website. To summarize the activity thus far, I can say that The Beatles: Rock Band has been released, well worth the wait, and as of today Halo 3: ODST is one week (or 7 days) away! Bungie released it's final VidDoc. today in celebration! Also the Zune HD is now in stores, I plan to grab one of them once I muster up the dough. (Runnin' a bit short on funds rig

ht now) Both Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 are less than 70 days away, releasin' in November. Modern Warfare has a sweet looking Elite Console Deal for $400 if anyone out there needs a starter system, thats the one you want! On a final note, if you haven't heard, Packnight Productions is hosting an ODST Firefight LAN party the weekend of ODST's Release. (Saturday the 26th) We'll be playing LIVE if you can't travel the distance. Check it out here.

Got The Beatles Rock Band! But the stupid hotel TV is all hacked by their stupid system so I can't set the lag correctly making it nearly impossible to play. I've got a steyr aug, Gears of War, and Battlefield: Bad Company waiting for me in the mail at home, while I sit here in the hotel in San Diego for a cousin's wedding this weekend. Won't be back until Sunday.. I suppose getting some homework done would be smart.. Only one more update between now and ODST! If you're as excited as me, try reading some of Bungie's weekly updates!

I should be at Joshua Fest yesterday, right now, and tomorrow, but guess what!? I'm sick!! XP It started with symptoms of a flu, exactly one day after sitting at a table next to someone with Swine Flu.. bad combination.. but after the third day (today) I'm feeling better with symptoms of a small cold. I partook of LOTS of Vitamin C on Friday! Anywayz... I won Gears of War on Goozex today. should get here within the week. I'm stoked for ODST! I'll have The Beatles: Rock Band by next update plus (hopefully) a Section 8 demo. That sums up this week... vote Andrew Sobon for President!

Each year, on the seventh day of the seventh month, a magical day arises when Halo fans around the globe celebrate a passing of the sun around the earth known as: Bungie Day! According to Bungie.net: "This year it’s all about the image and that wonderful number that follows six and precedes eight." (Bungie's awesome number 7). Hawtymcbloggy is collecting contributions for a special community article that will be published on 07.07.09. I've posted my entry submissions here if you want to know what to look for! On a final note, Bungie has also promised to give out the fabled Recon armor to anyone who can beat or impress them as they play in 4 man squad battles "from 1:00am PDT on 7/7 until 1:00am PDT on 7/8". More about that on their latest weekly update! (here) So Happy Bungie Day!

Halo Wars Release MASSIVE LAN Party

To celebrate the release of Halo Wars, Packnight Productions is holding a MASSIVE LAN Party for Xbox 360 owners in the Placerville to Somerset area. It will be held on the weekend Halo Wars comes out, Saturday March 7th. It will be an all day event hosting tournaments on games like Halo 3, Call of Duty, Rock Band, and of course, Halo Wars!
Packnight Productions will be sponsoring the event to include new, collectible invitation cards, prizes, organized tournaments, and a representative section on Packnight501's Official Website. Halo Wars Demo Released

Two days ago Microsoft released a game demo for Halo Wars! It entered the Microsoft Marketplace at 2am Thursday Feb. 5th. I would have posted this earlier but I was too busy pwning the Covenant. ;) You can download the demo straight to your Xbox 360 console here.

The highly anticipated Halo Wars will officially be released on March 3rd. Available now to pre-order, the Limited Edition will come with the highly anticipated Halo 3 Mythic map pack. Also, specific retailers like Gamestop will include a bonus paintjob for an in-game warthog if you pre-order soon! The Limited Edition bundle is currently selling for around $79.00.

Halo 3: ODST

Yesterday Bungie officialy announced (here) a change in the title of the highly anticipated game "Halo 3: Recon" that comes out next fall. The upcoming Bungie project formerly known as "Halo 3 : Recon" will now be known as "Halo 3 : ODST."

Xbox LIVE Update

Two days ago Microsoft released the New Xbox Experience (NXE) Update, which now allows Xbox owners to create their own characters that resemble Miis from Nintendo. You can now download Xbox games from the disk to your hard drive to eliminate the loud hum of the disk reading process, and on top of all that, the "tabs" browsing system has been replaced with an entirely new system that transitions smoother and has a "newer" feel to it.

Halo 3: Recon Update

Even though it comes out next year Bungie is working hard on Halo 3: Recon. In the December Issue of Gameinformer they give a tour of what they have so far. They also talk a little about it in their recent Weekly Update. Halo Wars also comes out next January with 3 of the new famed Mythic Maps which will be available for download soon after on Xbox Live Marketplace. Also, if you pre-order from select retailers you can get a cool bonus Flame-Warthog paintjob!

Happy Halloween All!!! It's raining here for the first time in a month! Today is the Harvest Fair* at Pioneer Bible Church, as well as other special holiday events everywhere! Halo 3's Double Experience Weekend is all Halloween themed matches (like infection), runescape has its event going on, and sites all over (like google) are dressing up in a festive appearance.

We here at Packnight Productions have much planned for the future of Packnight501's Official Website. Using Google's "Blogger.com" I am working on a Packnight501's Official Blog, as well as plenty of site upgrades and additions. I would like to point more attention to Bungie's Halo 3: Recon as it progresses in the production cycle and Red vs. Blue: Reconstruction as it comes to a close. As for Pwned by History, it looks like most of the video files we had were lost in the crash this month, so we'll be starting again from scratch once we recuperate. We can't say when Episode 1 will be officially released, but you can probably expect it by the end of next summer.
